Nicholas County Critical Access Hospital offers 24-hour, seven (7) days a week, emergency care in our Emergency Department. Welcome, Todd Boonstra, PA-C We are proud to introduce Todd Boonstra, PA-C, who will provide ER coverage for us Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Todd has an extensive background in trauma and critical services. Todd received his RN from Bronson School of Nursing at Western Michigan University; his PA from University of North Dakota; and also is a trained Paramedic and Level II Firefighter. Todd has fourteen (14) years experience as an RN working in trauma and critical areas in Colorado and Michigan. He has been a Physician Assistant since 2000, initially working in Family Practice and Internal Medicine. The past six (6) years have been spent working in Emergency Departments in both the Lexington area and in Northern Michigan. Todd spent a year traveling over the world as part of the C.A.R.T. Safety Team, providing on-track rescue for drivers of the Indy Car Racing Circuit. Todd is originally from Northern Michigan and resides with his wife, son, and daughter on a thirty (30) acre farm. Our Emergency Department is staffed during the evening and weekend hours by contracted physicians, qualified to handle any emergency. Our entire team is well equipped to respond quickly and efficiently to all emergency needs. A helipad is available at our facility to improve the transfer of critical patients to larger hospitals when the need arises.
